Who is doing what?

The improvements to the Ocean Estate are being carried out by the East Thames Consortium, which was selected by Tower Hamlets Council as their preferred development partner in late 2009.

The current homes on the estate will continue to be owned by Tower Hamlets Council, with landlord services provided by Tower Hamlets Homes.

The East Thames Consortium is responsible for carrying out the works and will be the landlord for the new homes which are built.

The East Thames Consortium comprises of the East Thames Group, a large east London housing association and developer; Wates, one of the UK’s largest refurbishment contractors; Spitalfields Housing Association, the largest Bangladeshi-led housing association in the UK; Bellway, a major UK housebuilder; and First Base, an urban development company.

The Homes and Communities Agency, which is the national housing and regeneration delivery agency for England, has provided £41m of funding for this regeneration programme.

All partners are working closely together to make sure that the residents of the Ocean Estate are kept informed and up to date with what is going on at all times.
