Over the next three years more than 800 new homes will be built on the estate. On five different sites these homes will be developed by Bellway, East Thames and Wates Living Space and will range in size from one to five bedrooms. Almost half of these homes will be affordable and will be available for rent and shared ownership. The other half will be sold on the open market.
Affordable rent options
Some of the affordable rented homes will be available for households on the Tower Hamlets social housing waiting list.
Shared ownership is designed for those who are able to get a mortgage but are unable to afford the full cost of home ownership on the private market. It’s a great way for many people to get on the housing ladder.
You buy a share of the property – usually between 25% and 75% – and then you pay a reduced rent on the remaining share to East Thames.
You can increase your ownership share at any time, all the way through to owning 100% of your home.
